The State Commission on Radio Frequencies in the Republic of Azerbaijan was established by Decree No. 484 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated August 15, 1996, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and operated until January 2018.
According to Order No. 2622 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated May 4, 2021, the State Commission on Radio Frequencies (State Commission) has started its work with a new composition. The composition of the State Commission was defined as follows:
Chairman of the State Commission:
- Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan
Members of the State Commission:
- Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
- Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
- Deputy Head of the State Security Service of the Azerbaijan Republic;
- Deputy Head of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to Decree No. 1492 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 18, 2021, the “Regulations on the State Commission on Radio Frequencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was approved.
Duties of the State Commission:
- Development of long-term priorities in the field of allocation and use of radio frequency spectrum;
- To prepare and approve a plan for the future use of the radio frequency spectrum of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a schedule for the allocation of frequency bands;
- To take a decision on allocation of radio frequencies for the use of radioelectronic facilities and to cancel this decision in cases established by law;
- To prepare methodological recommendations on compliance with the rules of radio frequency use;
- To take necessary measures to ensure the effective use of radioelectronic facilities and high-frequency devices.
