Technopark
The Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA) implements the process of applying for a technopark, evaluating applications and granting residency.
On 30 December 2022, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed a number of documents providing for amendments to the relevant laws and codes adopted in the ICT sector and their implementation. The new changes, which will enter into force on 1 January 2023, apply to legal entities and individuals obtaining residency in the technopark.
Legal entities and individuals to whom IDDA has issued the relevant residence licence will enjoy the following privileges:
- Residents operating outside the technopark in the field of system integration and (or) software design and development are exempt from a number of taxes (income and profits tax, dividends, property, land).
- Residents who carry out activities outside the technopark in the field of system integration and (or) software design and development are granted the following income tax exemptions: 0 per cent – up to AZN 8,000, 5 per cent – from the amount exceeding AZN 8,000, and 5 per cent – for a period of 7 years from 01.01.2026.
- Foreign specialists working outside the technopark in the field of system integration and (or) software design and development are not required to obtain a work permit.
- Depending on the choice of employees by residents working outside the technopark in the field of system integration and (or) software design and development, for a period of 10 years from 1 January 2023, the amount of compulsory state social insurance contributions are paid from the amount of four times the minimum monthly wage or from the income received from hired work.
