Technology and Innovation Working Group holds regular meeting

On 5 July, a regular meeting of the Technology and Innovation Working Group of the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings was held in an online format. The meeting was attended by representatives of government agencies that are members of the working group.

Head of the Secretariat of the Commission Vusal Shikhaliyev made an opening speech, noting the need to improve the country’s performance in the Global Innovation Index. At the same time, he stressed the importance of taking measures by the working group in accordance with its activities and holding negotiations with international organizations in this direction in order to develop relevant indicators. V. Shikhaliyev said that as a result of the efforts of the members of the working group, significant progress has been made in the relevant areas. However, several studies are needed to achieve better results.

Head of the Working Group, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samir Mammadov spoke about the steps taken by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport in relation to the mentioned issues and the measures taken. S. Mammadov informed the participants about mobile communications, internet services, support for startups, as well as training in programming and coding offered to students under the Technest programme and its successful results. At the same time, the activities carried out by the ministry to improve the country’s position in the E-Government Development Index were reviewed.

In conclusion, the representatives of government agencies discussed the working group reports for 2022 and the goals set for 2023. Based on the information provided, appropriate proposals and decisions were made by the Head of the Secretariat of the Commission.
