About Ministry

Based on Decree No.1464 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 11 October 2021, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies was renamed the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport. The aim was to widen the implementation of digitalization and innovation in the country, develop radio spectrum management, communication and information technologies, improve regulatory mechanisms and create a healthy competitive environment.

The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport is the central executive authority implementing state policy and regulation in the fields of transport (except for cases determined by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan), including maritime transport and civil aviation, communications (telecommunications and post), e-government, high technologies (information technologies, microelectronics, nano, bio and other innovative science-intensive technologies)
The ministry implements state policy and regulation in the fields of transport, communications, e-government and high technologies.

Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev met with Liisa-Ly Pakosta, Estonia’s Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs.

The meeting focused on opportunities to expand cooperation between Azerbaijan and Estonia in digital development, artificial intelligence, digital government and innovation.

The sides also exchanged views on learning from Estonia’s advanced experience, applying artificial intelligence in the public sector, promoting innovative technologies and strengthening cooperation between technology companies.

It was agreed to continue discussions on digitalisation within the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission and to hold regular online meetings to identify specific areas of cooperation.
