Implementation Status of the Technology and Innovation Working Group’s 2026 Action Plan Discussed
The next meeting of the Technology and Innovation Working Group under the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings, led by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, was held. The meeting brought together the leadership of the Commission Secretariat, the head and members of the Working Group, as well as representatives of the private sector.
The meeting focused on the implementation status of the Technology and Innovation Working Group’s 2026 Action Plan, challenges encountered in implementing the planned measures, and possible solutions to address them.
Opening the meeting, Samir Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport and Head of the Working Group, stressed the importance of ensuring the full and timely implementation of the Action Plan. He also emphasized the need to hold monthly thematic meetings with members of the Working Group and engage with other relevant working groups established under the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings to further improve Azerbaijan’s performance in future editions of the Global Innovation Index.
Vusal Shikhaliyev, Head of the Commission Secretariat, noted that the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is in the final stage of collecting data for the next edition of the Global Innovation Index. He also emphasized that the Technology and Innovation Working Group is responsible for ensuring the implementation of a significant number of the indicators included in the Global Innovation Index and plays a leading role in this regard.
Based on the views expressed during the meeting, the Working Group adopted relevant proposals and decisions.
