First training visit took place as part of twinning project “Increasing Road Safety in Azerbaijan”

The first training visit took place within the framework of the twinning project “Increasing Road Safety in Azerbaijan”, funded by the European Union and the beneficiary of which is the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

The training visit was organized to Polish cities of Warsaw and Gdansk as part of 2nd Component of the project on “Developing an effective road safety management system.

 

In addition to the departments and agencies of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, representatives of the Main Directorate of State Traffic Police and the Main Information and Communication Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also took part in the visit.

 

During the visit, meetings were held with the representatives of Road Traffic Automatic Supervision Centre of the Republic of Poland (CANARD), Warsaw Metropolitan Police Department, Tunnel Management Centre of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA), Centre for EU Transport Projects in Poland (CEUTP), Main School of Fire Service (SGSP), Traffic Management and Control Centre in Gdansk (TRISTAR), the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy of Poland, as well as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Poland Nargiz Gurbanova.

 

During the meetings, detailed information was provided on the organization of these institutions and the legislative framework. Road safety equipment and speed control techniques, safety and monitoring systems, procedures and techniques for dealing with accident victims were also clearly demonstrated. At the same time, representatives of the two countries exchanged views in the relevant field.

 

It should be noted that the aim of the twinning project is to improve the legal and institutional capacity and human resources of relevant government agencies and other stakeholders to better manage and coordinate road safety issues in Azerbaijan, contributing to the reduction of road accidents resulting in death or serious health injuries and socio-economic damage.
