First technical meeting on eCMR implementation in Azerbaijan held

The first technical meeting, organized by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, was held to discuss the roadmap to be developed for Azerbaijan’s transition to electronic consignment note (eCMR).

Experts from the Secretariat of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT), as well as representatives of relevant government agencies attended the meeting.

Representatives of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport presented the country’s national goals for digital transformation in international freight transport.

International experts present at the meeting highlighted the advantages of electronic consignment note and emphasized its role in facilitating global trade.

At the same time, the work done in the field of introduction of digital solutions in the transport system of Azerbaijan was highly appreciated. It was noted that the introduction of eCMR will be a significant achievement in the digitalization of the country’s transport operations and will further accelerate development in this area.

The participants discussed key milestones and strategies to ensure smooth operation of the system. The partners reaffirmed their commitment to cooperate for the successful implementation of this digital initiative.

It should be noted that the eCMR system is aimed at improving the efficiency of consignment note preparation in international freight transport, reducing the use of paper through the transition to a digital environment and simplifying border crossing operations by creating a fast and transparent platform.

The introduction of the eCMR system in Azerbaijan is considered an important step in terms of modernizing the country’s logistics infrastructure and increasing the efficiency of regional trade.
