About Ministry

Based on Decree No.1464 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 11 October 2021, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies was renamed the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport. The aim was to increase the implementation of digitalization and innovation in the country, develop radio spectrum management, communication and information technologies, improve regulatory mechanisms and create a healthy competitive environment.

The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport is the central executive authority implementing state policy and regulation in the fields of transport (except for cases determined by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan), including maritime transport and civil aviation, communications (telecommunications and post), e-government, high technologies (information technologies, microelectronics, nano, bio and other innovative science-intensive technologies)
The ministry implements state policy and regulation in the fields of transport, communications, e-government and high technologies.

Expansion of railway cooperation with China discussed

Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev met with Liu Zhenfang, Chairman of the Board of China State Railway Group, as part of his business trip to China.

The meeting discussed further expansion of railway cooperation between the two countries.

It was noted that in January–August 2024, the volume of railway transit traffic between Azerbaijan and China increased by 275% compared to the same period last year.

Liu Zhenfang said that China is interested in the development of the southern route of the Middle Corridor, as well as joining the work of Middle Corridor Multimodal company, established with the joint participation of the railways of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Georgia.
