About Ministry

Based on Decree No.1464 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 11 October 2021, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies was renamed the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport. The aim was to increase the implementation of digitalization and innovation in the country, develop radio spectrum management, communication and information technologies, improve regulatory mechanisms and create a healthy competitive environment.

The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport is the central executive authority implementing state policy and regulation in the fields of transport (except for cases determined by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan), including maritime transport and civil aviation, communications (telecommunications and post), e-government, high technologies (information technologies, microelectronics, nano, bio and other innovative science-intensive technologies)
The ministry implements state policy and regulation in the fields of transport, communications, e-government and high technologies.

Azerbaijani delegation attends official opening ceremony of Gazvin-Rasht railway

The official opening ceremony of the Gazvin-Rasht railway, which is an important project implemented in the direction of connecting railways of Azerbaijan and Iran, was held on March 6 in the city of Rasht in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

From Azerbaijani side, the opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade, Minister of Economy Shahin Mustafayev, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Javid Gurbanov and Azerbaijani Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran Bunyad Huseynov.

During the visit, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani received the Azerbaijani delegation.

It should be noted that in the future, the construction of Rasht-Astara (The Islamic Republic of Iran) railway will allow transportation of cargo by railway transport on the North-South International Transport Corridor directly from the ports of the Persian Gulf passing through Russia to the countries of Scandinavia and Western Europe, as well as via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway to the countries of South-Eastern Europe.
