Azerbaijan Represented at the ITF Transport Management Board Meeting

An extraordinary online meeting of the International Transport Forum (ITF) Transport Management Board was held.

Azerbaijan was also represented at the meeting, where the preliminary draft of the ITF Work Programme and Budget for 2027 was discussed. The meeting reviewed the organisation’s planned areas of activity for 2027, special research projects of the Transport Research Committee, Country-Specific Policy Analysis (CSPA) projects, as well as planned research by the Corporate Partnership Board.

Azerbaijani representative Alish Ismayilov put forward a number of proposals during the discussions. He emphasised the importance of making more efficient use of existing resources. He also supported the application of systematic criteria in the selection and prioritisation of CSPA projects to be implemented for member countries.

He also proposed holding open discussions among member countries on the organisation’s long-term development and strategic directions. In this context, the importance of taking a long-term approach to the ITF’s future operating model, priorities and role in global transport policy was emphasised.

In addition to Azerbaijan, representatives of Türkiye, the United States, Canada, France, Morocco, Czechia and other member countries also spoke at the meeting. The views and proposals put forward are expected to be taken into account in further developing the ITF’s activities for 2027.
