1st Caspian International Transport and Logistics Forum kicks off
On June 2, the 1st Caspian International Transport and Logistics Forum began its work at the Baku Congress Center.
The forum, supported by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, is held as part of the 20th Anniversary Caspian International Transport, Transit and Logistics Exhibition (TransLogistica Caspian).
Welcoming the forum participants, Samir Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, underlined that large-scale projects have been implemented in recent years towards modernizing the country’s transport and logistics infrastructure. The deputy minister noted that these projects are adapted to modern international challenges and include such important elements as inclusiveness, environmental protection, decarburization, innovation and digitalization.
Samir Mammadov said that the TRACECA project, signed with the participation of 8 countries during the leadership of great leader Heydar Aliyev, has become the most important project that allowed Azerbaijan to enter the international transport sector and act as a transit corridor in logistics operations.
The deputy minister also spoke about Azerbaijan’s transit prospects by connecting international logistics routes and turning it into a HUB. In particular, he informed about the construction of the Baku International Sea Trade Port, which is one of the largest infrastructure projects implemented in the direction of strengthening the position of our country in the international transport system. He noted that the carrying capacity of the port will be increased to 25 million tons and it is also planned to build here various food and cargo terminals and logistics centers.
Samir Mammadov also informed about the construction and rehabilitation of new roads and railways, and the work being carried out towards the construction of international airports in the territories liberated from occupation.
Organized for the first time, the forum brings together representatives of government agencies and international organizations operating in the transport sector.
The forum will allow for an exchange of information and experience between local and international representatives of the transport sector, constructive discussion and at the same laying the groundwork for new cooperation.
