Vienna hosts 11th session of Intergovernmental Commission between Azerbaijan and Austria

The 11th session of the Azerbaijani-Austrian Joint Commission on Economic, Agricultural, Industrial, Technical and Technological Cooperation was held in Vienna.
Co-chair of the Joint Commission from the Republic of Austria, Director General of the Department of Economic Affairs, Innovation and International Policy of the Federal Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism Florian Frauscher welcomed the Azerbaijani delegation and stated that Azerbaijan and Austria are countries with developing economic and cultural ties, and there is a potential for further expansion of cooperation in various fields.
At the meeting, Samir Mammadov, co-chair of the Joint Commission from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, provided information on last year’s macroeconomic indicators of our country and the volume of trade turnover between the two countries.
Samir Mammadov also spoke about the current situation regarding peacebuilding in the region, the post-conflict peace agenda, as well as the reconstruction and restoration work being carried out in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation. It was emphasized that the liberated areas are being rebuilt and that the region has been declared a “green energy” zone.
The Deputy Minister provided the Austrian side with detailed information about the work carried out in the fields of transport and digital development in Azerbaijan, as well as the measures taken to develop the Middle Corridor.
Speaking at the meeting, Rövshan Sadigbeyli, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Austria, provided information about Azerbaijan’s leading role in the South Caucasus region and its economic opportunities, as well as relations with Austria in political, economic and other areas and the existing potential. He emphasized that the Joint Commission is an important platform for expanding cooperation between the two sides.
During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on possibilities for cooperation in the areas of mutual investment, industry, trade, agriculture, energy, transport, digital development and ICT, healthcare, culture, tourism, youth, and sports.
The meeting concluded with the signing of minutes of the 11th session of the Joint Commission on Economic, Agricultural, Industrial, Technical and Technological Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Austria.
It should be noted that the Joint Commission was established on the basis of the “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Government of the Republic of Austria on cooperation in the fields of economy, agriculture, industry, technical and technological areas” signed in Vienna on November 13, 1998.
