Roundtable on "Promoting ICT in Education and Innovative Entrepreneurship" held

A roundtable on “Promoting ICT in Education and Innovative Entrepreneurship” was held today on the initiative of the State Fund for Development of Information Technologies and Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, with the support of the Ministry of Transport, Communications  and High Technologies and Ministry of Education.

 

At the event, discussions were held on the problems regarding information and communication technologies (ICT) knowledge in education and the role of education in the development of innovative entrepreneurship.

 

The event aimed at improving the quality of curricula in informatics in higher education institutions, improving the material and technical base of educational institutions for information and communication, informatization of the education sector, promoting innovative entrepreneurship in education and other topics.

 

At the event, information was provided on the work done towards converting higher education institutions into education – research – innovation centers, ensuring competitiveness specialist training, in particular increasing interest in engineering and other technological specialties, training of modern thinking and competitive workforce having theoretical and practical knowledge, creation of advanced technologies and management methods, innovations based on scientific achievements.

 

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizade said that special attention is paid to holding educational activities with higher education institutions towards the development of innovative entrepreneurship in the information and communication field.

 

The Deputy Minister noted that the main objective of the business incubators and centers established with the support of the State Fund for Development of Information Technologies is to increase the interest of young people in the ICT field, to ensure public awareness in this area, as well as to support the transformation of innovative ideas of young entrepreneurs into business.

 

Deputy Minister of Education Mahabbat Veliyeva noted that in recent years much work has been done in the direction of informatization of the education system. She noted that by relevant orders of the Head of State the educational legal framework of education has been improved, the mobile service has been developed, the introduction of information and communication technologies in educational institutions has expanded significantly. She stressed that the use of ICT in education has become one of the most important issues in connection with the development of the information society.

 

The event was attended by employees of various higher education institutions, experts in ICT and education, as well as representatives of ICT companies and relevant government agencies.
