Round table on “Innovation policy and first results achieved in Eastern European and South Caucasus countries” held in Geneva

A round table on “Innovation policy and first results achieved in Eastern European and South Caucasus countries” was held in Geneva. The event was organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

 

At the event, Azerbaijan was represented by a representative of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies.

 

The meeting presented the results achieved in six countries of Eastern Europe and South Caucasus – Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Armenia in connection with the implementation of the project UNECE Subregional Innovation Policy Outlook.

 

The event highlighted the special role of innovations in achieving sustainable development goals, as well as the achievement of great results in terms of economic growth in the countries of Eastern Europe and South Caucasus in the field of innovation-oriented economy.

 

The main purpose of the discussions is not only the use of innovations in the field of competitiveness, but also the fulfillment of the requirements for sustainable development set forth in the Global Plan 2030.

 

The project UNECE Subregional Innovation Policy Outlook evaluates innovation policy, the scope and quality of innovation in Eastern Europe and Caucasus regions. The project also serves to increase the productivity and competitiveness of the region’s economy.

 

It should be noted that the project is supported by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and is being implemented with the financial support from the Government of Sweden.
