“R.M.90” Programming Competition Held Among School Students

On October 18, 2025, the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA), Azerbaijan Technical University, and the ICPC Azerbaijan community jointly organized the “R.M.90” programming competition among school students.

The event was held in honor of the 90th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s distinguished scientist Ramin Mahmudzade. The finals brought together 50 students from grades 8 through 11 who had successfully advanced from the selection stage. The finalists showcased their programming skills in C++ and Python.

After the competition concluded, the official part of the event was held. Vusala Gurbanova, Head of Department at the IDDA, delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the significance and benefits of the competition, congratulating the winners, and wishing them success in their future careers.

The event also featured addresses by the Vice-Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University, the Regional Competition Director for ICPC Azerbaijan, and the Director of the 49th ICPC World Finals.

The ceremony concluded with the award presentation. According to the results, three participants were awarded first place, three received second place, and three were awarded third place.

The competition aims to familiarize young programmers with the legacy of Ramin Mahmudzade, a “Shohrat” Order laureate recognized as Azerbaijan’s first programmer and a pioneer in training the country’s first IT specialists. It also seeks to discover new talents in the IT field and equip young people with new knowledge and skills.
