Physical Infrastructure Working Group held regular meeting
A regular meeting of the Physical Infrastructure Working Group of the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings, which is managed by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, was held.
The meeting was attended by representatives of government agencies and public organizations that are members of the working group.
Current issues related to the group’s activities were discussed at the meeting chaired by Javid Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Head of the Working Group.
The meeting firstly presented information on the progress of implementation of the measures defined in the minutes of the previous working group meeting.
For example, the Global Innovation Index Report states that discussions have been held with the World Bank to change the methodology for calculating the Logistic Performance Index, and that the new methodology adopted a “shifting from a survey-based approach to a big data approach”. It was noted that databases such as the Universal Postal Union, Cargo IQ, TradeLens, MDS Transmodal and MarineTraffic will be used as the main sources of big data.
It was reported that the Global Innovation Index Report analyzed the performance of the Power Generation indicator for 2022 and 2023, and the forecasts for 2024 have been submitted to the secretariat of the commission.
Then a representative of the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport made a report on improving the quality of road infrastructure, in particular on the installation of road signs, road markings and the work done to improve mobility in Baku.
The representative of the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan provided detailed information on the pilot project on potable water production through seawater desalination, construction of main water pipelines on the Absheron Peninsula and construction of central reservoirs along these pipelines for sustainable water supply to the population, as well as on reconstruction of intra-quarter and intra-house water supply systems and installation of household water meters.
The presentations were followed by discussions among the members of the working group, opinions and suggestions were listened to, and recommendations were made to further improve the efficiency of implementation. At the same time, the work to be done next year and the draft Action Plan of the working group for 2025 were discussed.
