About Ministry

Based on Decree No.1464 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 11 October 2021, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies was renamed the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport. The aim was to widen the implementation of digitalization and innovation in the country, develop radio spectrum management, communication and information technologies, improve regulatory mechanisms and create a healthy competitive environment.

The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport is the central executive authority implementing state policy and regulation in the fields of transport (except for cases determined by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan), including maritime transport and civil aviation, communications (telecommunications and post), e-government, high technologies (information technologies, microelectronics, nano, bio and other innovative science-intensive technologies)
The ministry implements state policy and regulation in the fields of transport, communications, e-government and high technologies.

Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev met with Philip Gan, Senior Vice President of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.

During the meeting, the sides discussed opportunities to elevate cooperation between Azerbaijan and Huawei to the level of a strategic partnership, particularly through the implementation of joint projects in artificial intelligence, data centres, 5G and cloud technologies.

They also exchanged views on human capital development, the organisation of joint training and certification programmes, and the establishment of Huawei’s regional digital and operations centre, as well as a joint innovation centre, in Azerbaijan.
