Minister Rashad Nabiyev meets with Pakistani ministers in transport sector
As part of his visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev held meetings with Pakistan’s Minister for Railways and Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafique, Minister for Communications Asad Mehmood and Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari.
The issues of development of bilateral cooperation in the transport sector, including aviation, railway, and transit traffic were discussed at the meetings.
Rashad Nabiyev informed of the large-scale reconstruction and recovery projects carried out in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from occupation. He said Azerbaijan has made large investments in this area to develop transport infrastructure. Thus, several roads and railways have been laid in the country, and new international airports have been put into operation.
It was noted at the meetings that Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL) plans to operate direct flights from Baku to Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi twice a week in the near future.
The sides discussed the issues of transportation between the two countries, including transit traffic. They also exchanged views on the implementation of transportation through Azerbaijan along the North–West and North–South transport corridors with the use of Pakistani ports.
