Meeting held between representatives of transport and tourism sectors

On 15 April, a meeting was held between representatives of the transport and tourism sectors. The event was organized jointly by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and the State Tourism Agency.

The event, organized with the participation of Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev and Chairman of the State Tourism Agency Fuad Naghiyev, was attended by the heads of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency and the Association of Travel Agencies of Azerbaijan.

Minister Rashad Nabiyev spoke about the work done and planned in our country on globally recognized characteristics such as accessibility, safety, sustainability that make the transport system more convenient for tourists.

Chairman Fuad Naghiyev emphasized that the development of domestic and foreign tourism is directly related to the transport system and infrastructure, as well as the importance of simultaneous development of existing areas.

“It is no coincidence that 39% more tourists arrived in our country in January–March 2024 compared to the same period last year,” he said.

The meeting discussed the role of an efficient transport system in tourism development, issues of interest to air and land transport companies (rail and road transport), and the importance of public-private partnerships.

It was informed that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) assessed compliance with international flight safety standards in Azerbaijan at 80%.

The meeting heard proposals from representatives of travel companies and transport organizations.
