Meeting Held at the State Maritime and Port Agency with Azerbaijan’s First Female Seafarer Certified as a Mechanic

A meeting was held at the State Maritime and Port Agency with Irada Astanova, who serves as a motorman on vessels sailing under the Azerbaijani flag.

On February 5, she made history as the first female seafarer in the country to earn the right to join the command staff, scoring 97 points in the watchkeeping engineer exam organized by the Agency.

Participants congratulated Irada Astanova on her outstanding achievement and wished her continued success in her future career. Her decision to pursue the challenging and responsible profession of seafaring was highly commended.

Irada Astanova noted that she chose the seafaring profession of her own accord. She emphasized that working on a vessel tests a person both physically and mentally, and that strength and self-confidence are essential to succeed in this field.

At the conclusion of the meeting, she was presented with the certificate she earned in the watchkeeping engineer specialty.

It should be noted that Irada Astanova is a graduate of the Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy, where she studied Marine Engineering – Operation of Ship Power Plants.
