Journal supported by MTCHT awarded Web of Science Awards 2018

Journal “Applied and Computational Mathematics” published at the Scientific Research Institute of Applied Mathematics of Baku State University with the support of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies (MTCHT) and Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) was awarded the prize Web of Science Awards 2018. The journal became the winner in the nomination of the highest quality indicator included in the Q1 list.

 

The prestigious organization Clarivate Analyticts awarded the Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Academician Fikret Aliyev on this occasion. Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Applied Mathematics of Baku State University, full member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Fikret Aliyev said that giving such a high award to the journal “Applied and Computational Mathematics” is a great achievement of the science of Azerbaijan: Such an assessment of the work of Azerbaijani scientists at a high level inspires us even more and sets us big tasks for effective work in the future.”

 

The academician said that the journal published with the support of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies and ANAS since 2002, is the first and the only Azerbaijani scientific publication, which in 2008 was included in the expanded list of the agency Thomson Reuters (now Clarivate Analytics). The journal in 2010 received the coefficient of influence (impact factor). Over the past 8 years, the journal has managed to maintain its leadership in this sphere. The journal “Applied and Computational Mathematics” is the only Azerbaijani journal with a coefficient of influence based on the Web of Science indexing.

 

Saying recently several Azerbaijani journals were included in the list of this base, the scientist pointed out that none of these publications have received an influence factor thus far.

 

Fikret Aliyev recalled that in 2017 the coefficient influence of the journal of the “Applied and Computational Mathematics” was raised to 2.365. The journal took 19th place among 252 scientific journals covering the sphere of applied mathematics and high technologies in the world, in the European Union - 4th, among the countries of the former Soviet Union - 1st. The editorial staff of the international scientific journal includes 32 prominent scientists from 18 countries of the world.
