Indicators related to technology and innovations widely discussed in ‘Global Innovation Index 2024’
On 24 October, Technology and Innovation Working Group of the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings, which is led by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, held its regular meeting. The meeting was attended by the leadership of the Secretariat of the Commission, the head and members of the working group and representatives of the private sector.
It will be recalled that the first meeting of the working group was held on 8 October, but due to the large number of issues discussed it was decided to continue the meeting on 24 October.
During the meeting, the activities of the Technology and Innovation Working Group in the current year, as well as the results of the ‘Global Innovation Index 2024’ (GII-2024), published on 26 September, were analyzed in detail.
Vusal Shikhaliyev, Head of the Commission Secretariat, made an opening speech and noted that the work of the working group had played an important role in improving the country’s performance in the ‘Global Innovation Index’. He emphasized the importance of cooperation and continuity of communication in this direction both within the working group and with other groups and subgroups.
The head of the working group, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samir Mammadov said that the 3rd, 4th and 5th sub-indicators of the Index were analyzed in detail at the meeting held on October 8, and relevant decisions were made. Many of the decisions have already started to be implemented.
It was also noted that the 6th and 7th sub-indicators of the Index were analyzed at today’s meeting and the methodology of their calculation was considered. Appropriate measures will be taken to improve Azerbaijan’s positions on these indicators.
At the same time, the deputy minister added that from this point on, necessary steps must be taken to ensure that we are at the top of the Index in the coming years, and when preparing the Action Plan for the next year, the measures that have direct positive impact on the sub-indicator should be taken as a basis.
Then, in accordance with the agenda of the meeting, reports are presented on the work done by representatives of government agencies in the first 9 months of 2024 and the goals set for the next quarter, as well as the relevant sub-indicators of the “QII-2024” report was discussed.
Based on the opinions expressed at the meeting, the working group made relevant proposals and adopted decisions.
