Indicators related to technology and innovations analyzed in GII 2024
On 8 October, Technology and Innovations Working Group of the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings, which is led by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, held its regular meeting. The management of the Secretariat of the Commission, the head and members of the working group, private sector players and media representatives attended the meeting.
The said meeting discussed in detail the activities of the Technology and Innovations Working Group in the current year, as well as the results of the Global Innovation Index 2024 (GII 2024), published on 26 September.
Vusal Shikhaliyev, Head of the Secretariat of the Commission, made an opening speech and noted that the work of the working group had played an important role in improving the country’s performance in the Global Innovation Index. He emphasized the importance of cooperation and continuity of communication both within the working group and with other groups and subgroups in this direction.
The head of the Working Group, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samir Mammadov said that there has been ongoing communication within the working group about the status of measures, the deadlines for implementation of which are approaching or ending in the current year. As a result, data on six sub-indicators, which were not assessed in the report GII 2023, were identified and published in the report GII 2024.
Samir Mammadov emphasized that the participation of public institutions and representatives of the private sector in the working group meeting contributed to the definition of targets for the following months.
Then, in accordance with the agenda of the meeting, reports on the work done by representatives of public institutions for 9 months of 2024 and the goals set for the next quarter, as well as the relevant sub-indicators of the GII 2024 were discussed.
Based on the opinions expressed at the meeting, the working group made relevant proposals and adopted decisions.
