Finalists of “Amateur Satellite Modeling” and “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles” competitions became known

The finalists of the “Amateur Satellite Modeling” and “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles” competitions held among Azerbaijani students within the framework of the TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan project with the participation of Turkish youth have been announced.

The finalists of both competitions, held in partnership and organized by Azercosmos, were determined in accordance with the selection criteria of the TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan project.

Seven out of 23 teams in the “Amateur Satellite Modeling” competition have successfully completed the “Application”, “Mission Assignment and Component Selection” and “Video Report Preparation” stages, and qualified for the “Flight and Post-Flight Report “stage. In the “Flight and Post-Flight Report” stage, teams from National Aviation Academy of Azerbaijan, Baku branch of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Baku Higher Oil School and Baku State University had the opportunity to launch their satellite models.

A total of 130 teams from 45 universities in Azerbaijan and Turkey have applied for registration at the international competition “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles”. Of these 14 teams, fully meeting the conditions of the competition stages, qualified for the stage “Application”, “Statement of the problem and selection of components” and “Preparation of a video report”, and received a ticket to the “Flight and Post-Flight Report” stage. Of these, 10 are Azerbaijani teams and 4 –Turkish teams. They will demonstrate the missions of their models in the “Flight and Post-Flight Report” stage. Students from Baku State University of Azerbaijan, Baku Higher Oil School, National Aviation Academy, Khazar University, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Baku Engineering University, Azerbaijan Higher Military School, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Yildiz Technical University of Turkey and Turkish Air Force University won the right to participate.

Before the awards ceremony day (23-24 May) of the TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan festival to be held on May 26 – 29, the teams got through to the final stage of the “Amateur Satellite Modeling” and “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles” competitions will carry out flights at Hajigabul Airport. The teams that successfully completed the flights will take part in the awards ceremony, which will take place on May 28 at Baku Crystal Hall.

It should be noted that these competitions are organized in a number of countries with the aim of increasing students’ interest in aerospace, unmanned aerial vehicles, the formation of fundamental knowledge and skills in this field. In addition, teams acquire skills such as innovative approach to tasks, teamwork, presentation and planning.

The tasks set in both “Satellite Modeling” and “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles” competitions create conditions for the application and development of theoretical and practical knowledge in engineering fields such as electronics, mechanics, programming. Moreover, participants gain skills such as teamwork, presentation and planning.
