Deputy Minister Rahman Hummatov attending 16th Annual Meeting of TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission

The 16th annual meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) of the International Transport Corridor Europe–Caucasus–Asia (TRACECA) is taking place today in Tbilisi.

 

The meeting is attended by official representatives of the countries parties to the “Basic Multilateral Agreement on International Transport for Development of the Europe–Caucasus –Asia Corridor”, permanent representatives – national secretaries of the Permanent Secretariat of TRACECA in these states, as well as observers from Lithuania, Greece and representatives of several international organizations.

 

The development of multimodal transport along TRACECA, digitalization of the corridor, facilitation of border crossing procedures, permit systems for international road transport, as well as other issues on the development of TRACECA corridor are discussed at the meeting.

 

Participating in the event, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov spoke about the work done to develop sustainable transport and transit corridors in Azerbaijan, the projects implemented, as well as the restoration and construction work carried out in the liberated territories.

 

In his further remarks, Rahman Hummatov informed about the Zangezur Corridor, which could have a significant impact on expanding the transit potential of the Middle Corridor and lead to strategic changes in the transport and communication map of the region.

 

The meeting will elect the Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA. 

 

At the end of the event, it is planned to adopt the Joint Declaration on the Development of Multimodal Transport along the TRACECA, the Tbilisi Declaration on the results of the event, as well as relevant IGC documents and resolutions.
