Current status of 2025 Action Plan of the Working Group on Technology and Innovation discussed

The Working Group on Technology and Innovation of the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings, which is managed by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, has held a regular meeting. The meeting was attended by the management of the Commission’s Secretariat, the head and members of the Working Group, as well as representatives of the private sector.
The meeting discussed the implementation of the Action Plan of the Working Group on Technology and Innovation for 2025, the problems encountered in the course of implementation of the measures and the relevant ways to solve them.
Samir Mammadov, Head of the Working Group, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, informed the participants of the meeting about the projects implemented and the work done within the framework of the Action Plan.
He noted that meetings had been held at various levels with the World Intellectual Property Organisation, a roadmap for the launch of the 5G network had been prepared, the coverage of digital public services had been expanded, projects aimed at improving the digital skills of the population had continued, and efforts had been made to create new venture capital funds. He also provided detailed information on other projects and activities implemented in these areas, work carried out and future plans.
At the same time, he emphasised that one of the objectives of the meeting is to ensure the completeness of these reports, given that from next month semi-annual reports on the implementation of the Action Plan for 2025 will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers.
Vusal Shikhaliyev, Head of the Commission Secretariat, emphasized that the activities of the Working Group had significantly contributed to enhancing the country’s performance in the Global Innovation Index. He stated that the Action Plan for the current year is more targeted and includes measures aligned with the key indicators of the Global Innovation Index.
He also stressed the importance for the Working Group to accelerate the implementation of the relevant measures set out in the 2025 Action Plan, given that the 2025 edition of the Global Innovation Index would be published in September of this year, and therefore the relevant World Intellectual Property Organization requests and references would be completed by mid-June.
Taking into account the opinions expressed at the meeting, the Working Group put forward relevant proposals and adopted appropriate decisions.
