Chess tournament held in the framework of “Year of Heydar Aliyev” ends

The chess tournament organized by the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Transport, Communications and High Technology Workers came to an end. Employees of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and its subordinate bodies took part in the competition.

The competitions, held on May 3–5, were organized in the framework of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The aim of the tournament was to honor the blessed memory of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, who laid the foundations for the development strategy of chess in Azerbaijan, and achieve the popularity of this intellectual sport.

In a nine-round competition with 64 people, the participants competed individually.

According to the results announced by the judges, Rovshan Babashov, an employee of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, won the first place in the tournament. The winner of the second place became Orkhan Mukhtarov from Azercosmos and the third place went to Izzat Rahimli, an employee from AYNA.
