Bebras Week to Be Held in Azerbaijan
The Bebras Informatics and Algorithmic Thinking Challenge will be held in Azerbaijan from November 18 to 24, 2025, jointly organized by the Innovation and Digital Development Agency, Azerbaijan Technical University, and ÖzünÖyrən LLC, the official representative of Bebras in Azerbaijan. The initiative aims to promote informatics and digital literacy among students.
The challenge will be conducted online, and is open to students in grades I–X from all general education institutions across the country. Participants will have 40 minutes to complete tasks appropriate to their grade level. The challenges are designed to develop students’ analytical thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
More than 1,000 schools have already registered to take part in the challenge. To support the preparation of representatives from newly participating schools, a free online training course titled “Coordinating the Bebras Challenge” has been launched on the ÖzünÖyrən online learning platform.
The Bebras Week also serves as the qualifying stage of the challenge. Students who perform successfully at this stage will advance to the semifinal and final rounds.
The purpose of the challenge is to encourage students to solve engaging informatics-related problems without the need for programming knowledge, while enhancing their algorithmic and computational thinking skills.
It should be noted that the International Bebras Informatics and Algorithmic Thinking Challenge was first launched in Lithuania in 2004. Today, the challenge engages hundreds of thousands of students and is held in over 70 countries, including the United States, Germany, France, Japan, Türkiye, and others.
In Azerbaijan, the Bebras Challenge has been organized since 2014. In 2024, it covered more than 60 districts and cities, involving 376 schools and a total of 17,564 students. Participants who achieved the highest results were awarded valuable prizes during the ICPC World Finals.
