Azerbaijan’s AI Strategy Presented at IsDB Group’s 51st Annual Meetings

Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samaddin Asadov spoke at the panel discussion titled “Harnessing AI for Advancing Regional Digital Economies” held as part of the 51st Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Annual Meetings in Baku.

The Deputy Minister noted that artificial intelligence (AI) offers significant opportunities for our countries to strengthen their economies, improve the quality of services, and foster closer regional cooperation.

In his remarks, Samaddin Asadov outlined the concrete steps Azerbaijan has taken to build its national AI ecosystem and noted that the adopted strategic documents provide a unified roadmap.

He also noted that AI is regarded in Azerbaijan as an integral part of the broader digital transformation process and the transition to an innovation-driven economy. At the same time, he emphasized that no country can fully harness the benefits of AI on its own. Regional cooperation is therefore of particular importance, and in this regard, the IsDB plays a key role as a platform for bringing its member countries together. He added that expanding regional cooperation is the most effective approach for the IsDB's member countries.

The Deputy Minister also noted that Azerbaijan supports dialogue on joint digital platforms and the governance of AI systems.
