Azerbaijani delegation takes part in ITU Global Standards Symposium and World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly
The Global Standards Symposium (GSS-24) and the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-24), organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), kicked off in New Delhi (India) on 14–15 October.
Our country was represented at the event by a delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Shahin Babayev.
The conference (WTSA-24), held every four years with the participation of representatives of 194 ITU member countries, sets standards for telecommunication/ICT development and determines the future direction of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Bureau.
Within the framework of the conference, relevant resolutions and recommendation documents adopted earlier in this direction are amended and new documents are adopted. The conference brings together industry leaders and specialists from around the world to develop international standards that act as defining elements of the global information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure.
Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Shahin Babayev spoke at the panel “Catalyzing Change: Industry & Ministerial Leaders Crafting the Future of Innovation” at the GSS-24 event on “Charting the Next Digital Wave: Emerging Technologies, Innovation, and International Standards”.
During discussions on the topic, the deputy minister spoke about the work done in Azerbaijan in this area, projects, development of cooperation with other countries and international organizations in the field of digitalization and innovation.
At the same time, the participants were invited to take part in the high-level event “Digital Action for a Green World”, which will be jointly organized by the International Telecommunication Union and the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29) in Baku from 11–22 November this year.
