About Ministry

Based on Decree No.1464 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 11 October 2021, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies was renamed the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport. The aim was to widen the implementation of digitalization and innovation in the country, develop radio spectrum management, communication and information technologies, improve regulatory mechanisms and create a healthy competitive environment.

The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport is the central executive authority implementing state policy and regulation in the fields of transport (except for cases determined by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan), including maritime transport and civil aviation, communications (telecommunications and post), e-government, high technologies (information technologies, microelectronics, nano, bio and other innovative science-intensive technologies)
The ministry implements state policy and regulation in the fields of transport, communications, e-government and high technologies.

Azerbaijani Delegation Met with PostEurop Officials in Dubai

Within the framework of the 28th Universal Postal Union (UPU) Congress, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samaddin Asadov met in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with Botond Szebeny, Secretary General of PostEurop (the European Postal Organization), and Elena Fernandez-Rodriguez, Chair of PostEurop’s Board of Directors.

During the meeting, support was expressed for Azerbaijan’s candidacy for the UPU Postal Operations Council and Administrative Council, and the importance of international cooperation in the postal sector was emphasized. In addition, discussions were held on innovative approaches and the opportunities for implementing digitalization in postal services.

Officials of PostEurop proposed holding the organization’s General Assembly in Azerbaijan next year.
