Azerbaijan, Russia sign agreement on development of transit freight traffic
Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev made a working visit to Russia.
As part of the visit, a meeting was held at the Russian Ministry of Transport with the participation of Minister Rashad Nabiyev, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev and Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Roman Starovoit.
During the meeting, they discussed the development of the International North–South Transport Corridor, including implementation of road transport.
Following the discussions, an agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation for the development of transit freight traffic along the International North–South Transport Corridor.
The aim of the agreement, which defines the terms of cooperation on the development of railway infrastructure and transit traffic, is to improve the efficiency of transport links and increase the potential of the western route of the International North–South Transport Corridor.
This agreement will stimulate the growth of freight transport by rail and ensure a balance between the growth rate of traffic and the development of railway transport infrastructure.
