Azerbaijan represented at 3rd ECO Ministerial Meeting on ICT

The 3rd Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states was held on 13 July in Tehran, Iran.

The meeting discussed several issues related to the optimization of regulatory policy in the relevant field in the member states, further intensification of cooperation on legislation and ICT at the multilateral level.

Samir Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, who attended the event, informed the participants about cybersecurity, telecommunications, satellite services in the country, as well as the work done towards building a modern broadband network with GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Networks) technology as part of the Online Azerbaijan project.

The meeting resulted in the adoption of the Joint Tehran Declaration.

It should be noted that 7 countries – Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan – joined the ECO on 28 November 1992. Currently, the organization has 10 member countries.
