AYNA Joins the International Association of Public Transport
The Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) has been admitted as a member of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP).
The membership aims to contribute to international cooperation in the field of public transport, provide access to the organisation’s extensive network of partners and professional resources, benefit from international experience and expertise, facilitate information exchange, and strengthen cooperation with relevant foreign government authorities.
UITP membership offers several important benefits for Azerbaijan. These include promoting sustainable urban and public transport; developing systems and services for urban mobility; enhancing knowledge and expertise in mobility hubs and Transport Exchange Centres; strengthening capabilities in taxi operations, including planning, organisation and technical maintenance; enhancing knowledge and skills in payment systems; developing a pool of experts in AYNA’s areas of activity; establishing contacts with international specialists; facilitating the exchange of experience; and fostering strategic partnerships.
The membership also provides Azerbaijan with access to expertise and practical knowledge in such topical areas as the operation of zero-emission buses, the design of accessible streets for all, artificial intelligence solutions in transport, fare management, marketing and communications, and crisis response and management. It also provides opportunities to participate in various training and educational programmes delivered by experts.
Members have direct access to reports, research studies and databases covering the latest trends, innovations and best practices in public transport. This information supports sound decision-making.
It should be noted that UITP, established in 1885, has more than 1,900 members from over 100 countries. Headquartered in Brussels, the Association has a network of 13 regional offices and centres.
