A collection of statistical indicators “Azerbaijan Digital Development: Facts and Figures” published

A collection of statistical indicators “Azerbaijan Digital Development: Facts and Figures” has been published. The publication has been prepared with the joint cooperation of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport (MDDT), the State Statistics Committee (SSC) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The purpose of preparing the publication in Azerbaijani and English languages is to identify digital development indicators that have recently become more widespread due to the rapid development of the ICT sector, to collect data according to an international methodology and to develop a culture of data-driven decision-making.

Consistent reforms are underway to turn Azerbaijan into a digital center of the region. In order to improve the efficiency of the economy and public administration, information security and the living standards of citizens, it is envisaged to develop the broadband Internet network, which is the basis of the ICT infrastructure and to implement such digital initiatives as the Government Cloud (G-Cloud), Big Data, Smart City and Smart Village.

Statistical data plays the role of the major source in the direction of data-driven decision making in the field of digitalization and ICT, further improving our country’s position in international rankings. This, in turn, requires that these data conform to international methodology and be kept up-to-date.

The new edition reflects digital development indicators derived from the household survey and data collected from legal entities for 2018–2022.

ITU, UN and SSC official documents were used in the preparation of the collection of statistical indicators.
