107 Internet operators and providers of telecommunication services in Azerbaijan registered

Registration of internet operators and providers by Azerbaijan’s regulatory authority for telecommunications and postal services – Information and Communication Technologies Agency (ICTA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, continues through an electronic system.

To date, 107 internet operators and providers, including host providers, have been registered.

Operators and providers, including host providers who are not registered, must apply for registration by authenticating through the relevant link on the eGovernment portal.

Failure to register may lead to administrative liability under Article 370-1 of the Administrative Offences Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Registration will increase accountability level, as well as regulatory capabilities in this area, and will be used for development of concepts and special-purpose programs to maximize broadband access. It will also play an important role in developing relationships between consumers and regulated entities, analyzing markets for services, shaping them and ensuring transparency.

At the next stage, ICTA will analyze the data collected during the accounting process, including parameters such as the types of Internet telecommunication services provided, compliance of contracts concluded with subscribers with minimum requirements, scope of activities, means of communication, as well as customer-orientation and awareness of websites, systematize and evaluate them visually.

It should be noted that the Charter of the Information and Communication Technologies Agency was approved by Decree No. 1861 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 21 October 2022. The Agency regulates and supervises information and communication technologies (ICTs) and communications (telecommunications and postal), as well as manages the radio-frequency spectrum in the country.
