Azerbaijan’s Transport Experience Highlighted at International Event in Paris

Azerbaijan was represented at the international roundtable on “Accessibility of Transport for Persons with Disabilities,” organized by the International Transport Forum (ITF) under the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Alish Ismayilov, a national expert seconded from the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport to the ITF Secretariat, shared Azerbaijan’s experience during various sessions.

The discussion highlighted the reforms aimed at strengthening inter-agency cooperation in the transport and communications sectors, as well as the introduction of a new financial mechanism in public transport. These initiatives were emphasized as crucial for enhancing the financial sustainability of the transport sector and improving service quality.

The session chair highly praised these reforms, stating that Azerbaijan’s experience would be featured as a case study in the final report.

The event brought together representatives from prominent organizations in Japan, Ireland, Austria, Canada, Portugal, the Netherlands, and other countries. The roundtable served as a key platform for promoting equal access to transport and enhancing cooperation in the development of inclusive transport policies. The international recognition of Azerbaijan’s experience further highlighted the country’s successful initiatives in the field of inclusive transport.
