Winners of 2nd IBA Regional Hackaton announced

The 2nd IBA Regional Hackathon, organized by the International Bank of Azerbaijan, has come to an end. The idea marathon organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan was also supported by Amazon Web Services, DAN.IT and Next Step.

The event was attended by representatives from 13 countries and participants were registered both individually and in teams. Although the hackathon was held online, interested teams had the opportunity to work together in the office of the IBA Innovation Center. The teams developed prototypes of their projects for 48 hours with the support of invited professional mentors from different countries.

The main areas of hackathon are retail banking. 10 projects with the highest points, which qualified for the semifinals on innovative solutions, were presented to the jury. The teams demonstrated prototypes of their projects online.

The winners of the first, second and third places were determined on the basis of the scores given by the jury. The first place in the hackathon was taken by the team MSU_WishMasters from the Baku branch of Moscow State University named after Lomonosov. They won with the project IBA Market. The project envisages the establishment of a customer loyalty system, the transfer of various analytical tools for retail services and other features that make life easier to the web platform.

The second place was taken by the team Access Denied. The project All win, initiated by this team, integrates retail services and serves customer satisfaction. The third place winner became the team VimDev from South Africa. The team’s project One Way simplifies the shopping process by transferring payment methods to the mobile application.

According to the terms of the hackathon, the first place winner was awarded 3,000 AZN, the second place winner – 2,000 AZN, and the third place winner – 1,000 AZN. The winner of the second place was also awarded a special prize of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies.
