Warning: fake ads are posted on social media

The Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies has recorded another phishing campaign against Azerbaijani users of social networks. Thus, fake ads under the name of “An announcement that will change the citizens of Azerbaijan forever” are posted on Facebook, Instagram and other social networks. The aim is to lure users into trap by attracting their attention and encouraging them to access malicious links.

Thus, the user who clicks on the link (sites.google.com) indicated in the ad is asked to fill out a questionnaire. Then the user who fills out the questionnaire is redirected to malicious sites. When accessing these sites, malware is downloaded to the user’s device, which collects the user’s personal information and passes it to the cybercriminal.

Therefore, we ask citizens to be extremely careful on social media, not to click on fake pop-up ads, and to complain by clicking on the three dots (...) in the right corner of the ad.

Also, when faced with such a situation, please contact the Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies via the website www.cert.az  or e-mail reports@cert.az.
