Warning: another phishing campaign is carried out via WhatsApp

In recent days, there has been an increase in phishing campaigns. This time, cyber fraudsters send spam messages to users via WhatsApp under the heading “Get a free bonus of 700 AZN”. Then they are asked to write “GO” in the reply message and follow the link. The user following the link is redirected to malicious sites. To receive the bonus, the user is required to register on the site by entering personal information (name, surname, gender, address and mobile number). The user is then redirected to another page and asked to make a deposit by entering bank details.

As is known, when the user provides this information, funds disappear from his bank account, and the seized personal information is used to carry out further malicious acts by cyber fraudsters.

The Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies urges citizens not to click on such links, not to provide personal information, especially bank details. The purpose of such sites is to lure users into a trap and seize their funds.

Users receiving such messages are asked not to reply to them and report them as spam by selecting “Report Spam”.

Also, if you encounter any cyber incidents or need methodological support, please contact the Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies via the website www.cert.az or e-mail reports@cert.az.
