Technology giant Lenovo establishes regional center in Baku
Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev has met with a delegation of the leading international technology company Lenovo, headed by Wilfredo Sotolongo, Senior Vice President at Lenovo ISG.
During the meeting, the head of the delegation gave extensive information about the company’s activities.
It was noted that Lenovo, which is involved in production of infrastructure solutions, servers, data storage systems and other modern technological equipment, operates in over 180 markets.
The head of the delegation noted that the official representative office of the company operating in our country would be expanded and become a regional center covering the territories of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. At the same time, proposals were made to establish a joint research & development center in Azerbaijan.
Minister Rashad Nabiyev, in turn, informed the representatives of Lenovo about the work of the government to improve the business climate for IT companies, in particular to create an enabling environment to attract foreign investments. The minister said that amendments to the tax, migration and customs legislation, as well as to the social insurance law had been prepared. Thanks to these changes, IT companies engaged in system integration and software development will enjoy significant privileges when working in Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that just a few days ago Baku hosted an event called “Lenovo Day Baku”, supported by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, which was attended by representatives of international IT vendors and representatives of over 200 delegates from corporate sector companies from Azerbaijan. The participants discussed trends in digital business transformation and existing challenges in the region. The successful technological solutions and new business models to support digital enterprise ecosystems in Azerbaijan were analyzed at the event.
