STEAM & Innovation Center commissioned in “Istedad” lyceum in Sumgait

On 21 September, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education and the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the opening ceremony of the STEAM & Innovation Center took place at “Istedad” (“Talent”) lyceum in Sumgait.

Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev  and head of Sumgait City Executive Power Zakir Farajov attended the opening ceremony.

They met with the teaching and student staff of the school and got acquainted with the conditions created in the center.

It was stated that the establishment of the center is aimed at identifying talented students in the field of mathematics, computer science and robotics, developing their potential, as well as organizing the preparation of students for local and international Olympiads and competitions.

Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev stressed that the center will be important in terms of a new approach to education, as well as the application of innovative teaching methods. Noting that the scope of STEAM-based education has been expanded in the 2023-2024 academic year, science and education minister said the main objective is to ensure the application of modern technologies in realizing students’ innovative ideas, and to build skills to use artificial intelligence in various areas of the economy.

Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev said that in order to create a strong human capital and turn our country into a place of innovation, first of all, we must raise the level of knowledge in the field of exact sciences, technology and information technology, as well as make progress in training specialists in this field. The new center will play exactly this role. The knowledge and skills of talented students in mathematics, chemistry, computer science and robotics will be identified and developed here, and innovative education projects will be implemented.

They then visited the school’s newly renovated library.
