State Maritime & Port Agency simplifies process of issuing diplomas

As a continuation of the reforms implemented in the State Maritime and Port Agency under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the process of issuing certificates (diplomas) to graduates of ordinary staff specialties (a watchman, a shift engineer, a ship’s electrician, a ship’s cook, a ship’s crane operator) has been simplified.
Thus, persons who have obtained a certificate of conformity from the State Maritime and Port Agency in accordance with the requirements of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers and who have successfully passed the final examination organized at the training and educational institution carrying out ordinary staff training, are exempted from the exam held for the issuance of a certificate (diploma) at the Agency.
Certificates (diplomas) for sailor positions will be issued to cadets on the basis of relevant documents on completion of training courses at training and educational centers in accordance with the requirements of regulations II / 4, III / 4, III / 7 of the International Convention on the Training and Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers of the International Maritime Organization and on the basis of national legislation.
It is worth mentioning that prior to this reform, to obtain a certificate (diploma) for the first time, graduates of ordinary staff had to participate in test exams organized at the State Maritime and Port Agency.
It should be noted that as part of the reforms, members of command staff were previously exempted from exams held by the Agency after completing refresher courses in order to replace expired certificates (diplomas) for the same position with new ones.
At the same time, it was decided to establish an expert committee under the State Maritime and Port Agency to improve the examination process and questions. The public will soon be informed about this.
