State Maritime Agency warns of weather conditions in the Caspian Sea

The National Center for Long Range Identification and Tracking of Ships of the State Maritime Agency under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies has received a warning about a dangerous hydrometeorological phenomenen. The warning says that in the Caspian Sea from the evening of May 9, a southwestern wind is expected at a speed of 15-18 m / s, with gusts up to 20-23 m / s in the Middle Caspian, and on May 10, a northwestern wind up to 18-23 m / s, at times up to 25-30 m / s, in the open sea at times up to 32 m / s. The wave height at sea will be 2.0-3.0 meters, and in the next development it is expected to reach 3.5-5.5 meters.

 

In accordance with weather conditions, shipowners, port masters, port control inspectors will be instructed by experienced captains of the National Center of the State Maritime Agency to take corresponding measures. At the same time, a safe shelter will be provided for the ships at anchor.

 

The National Center of the State Maritime Agency will provide uninterrupted service to enhance surveillance and ensure the safety of vessel traffic by all available technical means.

 

Measures will also be taken to issue permits for vessel traffic and access to ports, traffic restrictions and closing of ports. Entities that have oil and gas platforms at sea will be informed of the dangerous hydrometeorological phenomenon.
