Roadmap for 2022–2023 for implementation of improvements in relevant area on indicator “Connection to public utilities (Internet)” presented

On 10 October, the presentation of the roadmap for 2022–2023 for the implementation of improvements in the relevant area related to the indicator “Connection to public utilities (Internet)” of the World Bank Group’s Business Enabling Environment project was held at the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication.

 

The event was organized with the aim of discussing the measures set out in the roadmap, the tasks ahead for their implementation, as well as further improving the position of our country in international rankings.

 

The presentation ceremony was attended by representatives of government agencies and private companies, members of the Public Council under the Ministry of Digital Development & Transport and media representatives.

 

Head of the Working Group on Internet Connection and Internet Infrastructure of the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Farid Ahmadov said in his speech that the working group has analysed several components of the indicator “Connection to public utilities (Internet): Internet connection” of the Business Enabling Environment project. Analyses were carried out on a number of components of the indicator, and a roadmap was developed on the basis of these analyses and relevant proposals.

 

The Deputy Minister noted that informing business and public representatives as an interested party in the implementation of the roadmap, their active participation in the process of preparing and implementing the reforms, and creating favorable opportunities for submission of opinions will serve to enhance the efficiency of comprehensive measures to be implemented in this area.

 

Speakers at the event included  Secretary of the Working Group Mushfiq Guluyev, head of strategic analysis, innovation and digitalization  department of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, responsible person for implementing the roadmap Jeyhun Huseynzade, Chairman of Azerbaijan Internet Society and  vice-chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport Galib Gurbanov, director of the Public Association Multimedia Information Systems and Technologies Center and member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Digital Development & Transport Osman Gunduz spoke at the event.

 

In the speeches, the importance of the roadmap and the challenges ahead for its implementation were brought to the attention of the event participants.

 

It should be noted that roadmap for 2022–2023 for the implementation of improvements in the relevant field related to the indicator “Connection to public utilities (Internet)” of the World Bank Group’s Business Enabling Environment project was approved by the chairman of the Commission on International Rankings on 30 September 2022 (https://azranking.az/action-plans).
