Registration for Amateur Satellite Modeling competition continues as part of TECHNOFEST Azerbaijan
Registration for the competition Amateur Satellite Modeling (CanSat) for students continues within the framework of TECHNOFEST Azerbaijan Aerospace and Technology Festival.
We would like to inform you that the TECHNOFEST Azerbaijan will be organized for the first time in Baku by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 26 –29 May this year. The main purpose of the TECHNOFEST, which has become an international brand, is to popularize the aviation, space industry, digital economy and education and other fields among young people, promote entrepreneurship in these fields, reveal the knowledge and skills of young engineers through competitions organized as part of the festival, as well as present national technologies to the general public.
Amateur Satellite Modeling (CanSat), which is one of the most important competitions of the festival, aims to provide students with new theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of space, especially to train local experts in satellite modelling and management.
The competition will stimulate students’ basic knowledge in mechanics, electronics and programming. The students will also be able to significantly improve their teamwork, presentation and planning skills.
Under the terms of the competition, students must form a team and participate in the competition. Each team must also prepare a small model of a satellite and submit it to the competition. Once launched, the model satellite must perform the function of collecting the necessary data from sensors before landing. The satellite must be able to perform the task, sending this information in the form of a telemetry packet to the appropriate interface. The mission means that the satellite to be developed by students will detect the separation autonomously after disconnection from the carrier and, if successfully disconnected, record a video image of the Earth’s surface and store it on the internal memory card.
University students participating in category B will be able to take part in the competition for a prize fund consisting of 6,000 AZN for 1st place, 4,000 AZN – for 2nd place, 2,000 AZN – for the 3rd place.
The deadline for applications is 17 February 2022.
