Outcomes of 2024 and priorities for 2025 to implement improvements and communication in internet sphere discussed
On 28 January, a regular meeting of the working group on internet connectivity and internet infrastructure of the Business Environment and International Rankings Commission chaired by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport was held. The meeting was attended by the head of the Commission’s Secretariat, the head and members of the working group, as well as representatives of the private sector.
The meeting discussed the work done under the 2024 Roadmap for implementing improvements and communication in the relevant area related to the “Utilities (Internet)” indicator of the World Bank Group’s Business Ready Report and identified upcoming tasks for 2025.
The head of the working group, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Shahin Babayev made a welcoming speech and noted that the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and other relevant structures have taken appropriate measures to enhance a favorable business environment and further improve the country’s position in international rankings.
He added that informing business and public representatives as stakeholders in the implementation of the Roadmap and their active participation in the process of preparation and implementation of reforms played a major role. At the same time, the creation of favorable opportunities for submitting opinions contributed to increasing the effectiveness of comprehensive measures implemented in this area.
Head of the Secretariat of the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings, Sector Head at the Department of Economic Policy and Industrial Issues of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Vusal Shikhaliyev noted that the work of the working group played an important role in improving the indicators related to the Internet infrastructure of the Business Ready Report. He said benchmarks were used to diagnose the internet infrastructure and identify areas for improvement by 2025.
He stated that our main goal at today’s meeting is to determine tasks for 2025 and improve the Roadmap for next year, that the implementation of these measures should ultimately have a positive impact on both the business environment and the “Utilities (Internet)” indicator of the Business Ready Report.
It should be noted that the Commission’s working group on internet connectivity and internet infrastructure is chaired by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
