Online meeting held with representatives of ICT companies

Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizade held an online meeting with representatives of the country’s leading ICT companies, included in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Section of Caspian Energy Club.

 

The meeting began with opening remarks by Caspian Energy Club CEO Telman Aliyev. The  floor was then given to Elmir Velizade.

 

In his speech, the Deputy Minister spoke about the current situation in the field of ICT, the work done and prospects during the pandemic. Elmir Velizade noted that we are living in a unique period, we are fighting the first pandemic of the 21st century and for the first time in the history of mankind, ICTs have played an important role in this fight. Ministry’s representative spoke about the ICT solutions implemented in the country during this period, and stressed that the main task is to preserve the potential of ICT companies and prevent personnel losses.

 

To review future prospects, a presentation on “Trends and prospects for the development of information and communication technologies in Azerbaijan and the world”, prepared by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, was made at the meeting.

 

At the presentation, made by Heydar Rustamov, executive head of Strategic Planning and Economic Analysis Department of the ministry, information  was provided on the state of ICT development in our country in 2013-2019, the areas that form the basis of development, the dynamics of changes in income, the structure of ICT production, export and import of products and services in this area, the current state of ICT in 2020 in connection with the pandemic, and the initial proposals developed for the development of the sector.

 

Then discussions were held in connection with the presentation and questions were answered. In general, the views of the participants, the difficulties and problems they face were listened to, and proposals for the development of the sector were discussed.

 

The participants praised these meetings at the ministry during the pandemic, especially in the early days of the special quarantine regime and now. It was noted that these meetings served as instructing ICT companies on organizing their activities in the current situation, establishing contacts for the prompt solution of existing challenges. The prepared presentation was appreciated by the participants and the importance of the analysis for future activities was emphasized. It was noted that the companies will also present their proposals.

 

Caspian Energy Club thanked the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies for its sensitive attitude to the problems and difficulties faced by ICT companies, including club members, during the pandemic, as well as for their attention and care in solving their problems in this difficult situation.

 

It should be noted that the main goal of the Caspian Energy Club, which unites more than 5000 companies and organizations from 50 countries, is to improve the investment and business environment, as well as to stimulate and participate in dialogues in B2G, B2B and B2C formats.
