Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies organizes a regional workshop on intelligent transport technologies

A regional workshop on “Increasing capacity on the use of intelligent transport technologies to reduce gas emissions that create a thermal effect in the transport sector of the Asian region” was organized in Baku today by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

The workshop was organized jointly with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

 

The goal of the event is to share knowledge and experience in reducing gas emissions that create a thermal effect in the transport sector, conduct analysis to prevent risk factors and organize discussions to take the necessary operational measures.

 

The two-day event is held with the participation of representatives of the relevant authorities of Azerbaijan, countries of the region (Russia, Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan), the UNESCAP secretariat, as well as experts from the United States and Korea.

 

Opening speeches at the workshop were delivered by Shahin Ismayilov, Head of Department of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, UNESCAP representative Changju Lee and representative of the Asian Development Bank Ki Joon Kim.

 

Then, CEO of ITS Russia Vladimir Kryuchkov made a presentation on intelligent transport systems.

 

In turn, Smart Mobility Director Andrew Bevan delivered a presentation on the topic “New Development in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems: Technologies and Applications”.

 

Then discussions were held on increasing the capacity of intelligent transport technologies to reduce the emission of gases that create a thermal effect in the transport sector of the Asian region. The speakers also answered questions from the participants.

 

The event continued with presentations by representatives of countries in the region.

 

It should be noted that the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies is one of the main executive bodies for the implementation of the action plan of the “State Program for Road Safety in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023” approved by Order # 852 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 27, 2018. The main goal of the state program is to take necessary measures to reduce the number of road traffic accidents, in particular, fatal accidents and bodily harm, as well as reduce the amount of damage to the economy and ecology of the country.
