Minister Rashad Nabiyev: “We aspire to a comprehensive and inclusive concept of digital transformation”

Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Rashad Nabiyev met with Vice President of the Digital Transformation Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey Yavuz Emir Beyribey, who is on a visit to our country.

 

Noting that fruitful discussions took place at the meeting of the working group on digital transformation, the Minister said that responsible agencies and coordinators have been appointed in key areas. “We are currently working on the concept of digital transformation of Azerbaijan. The concept is the basis of such fundamental documents as the future strategy and action plan for its implementation. Taking this into account, we are trying to make the concept comprehensive and inclusive,” the Minister said. He also stressed that in this area there is a special interest in studying the Turkish experience.

 

Minister Rashad Nabiyev noted that in connection with the harmonization of the national legislation of the two countries in the field of personal data protection, as well as cross-border data transfer, at the next stage, it is planned to develop a draft agreement to obtain the status of a “reliable country”. “Our new draft law on the protection of personal data is currently under domestic procedure. According to my information, Turkish legislation in this area is similar to that of the European Union. Our new legislation has also been developed on the basis of the legislation of the European Union,” the Minister emphasized.

 

The Minister said that for this reason the harmonization of legislation in this area between Azerbaijan and Turkey can be easily carried out.

 

It was noted at the meeting that one of the areas of cooperation between the two countries is the government cloud. Azerbaijan is interested in studying the model applied by Turkey in this field. The establishment of a joint data center in the future is also one of the promising areas of cooperation.
